What Made You To Start Blush & Blooms?
It has always been a dream of mine to be a blogger. Blush & Blooms is actually my 3rd blog, the other two I was either not in love with or had to stop for work reasons, but I kept itching to blog. Finally I decided to take the leap of faith and start a new one! I have a variety of interests and noticed that I couldn’t find a way to not only be creative, but to put all of my passions in one basket. Blogging does that for me. If I’m feeling inspired about a certain new trend or a fitness program, I want to share it with everyone. I love connecting with people, whether they have similar interests or not. Once I really started to blog, it all just clicked for me and I absolutely love it.
What keeps you motivated to write and put together styles day in and day out?
I think Grace Coddington said it best “Always keep your eyes open. Keep watching, because whatever you see can inspire you.” Seeing inspiration all around me and loving what I do has kept me motivated. I work on my blog all day to sometimes very late at night and I love every minute of it. When you love what you do, it’s not hard to stay motivated. I know what time of the day I’m the most creative, and I focus on writing posts during those precious hours.
When I’m not feeling creative and need something to spark an idea, I’ll shop online or start playing around on Pinterest. The best part about blogging is that there are plenty of subjects left untouched. I can talk about whatever I want, so finding a topic is pretty easy to do. I also believe in constantly learning a new skill. The blogosphere is constantly changing, and there’s always something new to discover and learn about. Staying up to date with what’s new in tech, fashion, design, marketing, social media, etc, always excites me and gets me motivated.
Where do you get your fashion inspiration?
I’m constantly inspired daily whether it’s seeing a girl wearing a great outfit on the street, to reading InStyle magazine, to scrolling through social media channels. I love looking at different brand websites or style guides and seeing how they pair pieces together. Finally, I read a lot of blogs and online publications. If I see something I like I will take a mental note of it, try to find it on the internet, and play around with finding pieces to style it with. I also get inspiration from old style icons like Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Jackie Kennedy, and C.Z Guest. I’m definitely born in the wrong generation. I love how elegant and put-together they all looked!
How would you describe your personal style?
My personal style has definitely evolved over the years. I used to consider myself preppy, and still could fall into that category easily, but I would describe my style as classic and feminine. I think my entire wardrobe consist of mainly dresses and skirts. I do sway back and forth between feminine soft palettes, bright patterns, and looking sleek in all black or white. I try to purchase pieces that are timeless, that I know I will wear in 3 years, instead of fast fashion trends.
Dog or cat?
A dog lover for sure!
