This week’s necklace was really two necklaces. I cheated, so sue me!! I find that sometimes a necklace isn’t quite “finished” until you layer it up. I decided to layer this bad girl up. And to help me demonstrate, I have Bethany, my assistant mannequin to stand in. Bethany was included this week because it may be hard to see the layers without a black background. So thank you, Bethany!
I shared what I thought about long layered necklaces a few weeks back: how it draws attention to your length. I liked this necklace because it has tassels which are super hot right now.
How can you pick necklaces to layer together? Well, that is a good question. It’s a lot like picking the necklace for the outfit. First, as a general rule of thumb, don’t wear two statement necklaces together. It can work in some limited cases, but in general it will not especially if they are both large bibs.
Second, stick to similar color groupings. It won’t go well if you are Rainbow Bright. Again, this rule can be broken if you do it right (like a Boho look or something).
Third, try to pick different lengths. They don’t have to be dramatically different lengths, but enough to show that it is layered. Necklaces that are all the same length does not really work stylistically.
So my last outfit, I chose a pretty bold yellow dress. I like it, but I still am debating whether it “worked” with the necklace. The blue doesn’t clash with the yellow, but I’m still not sure if I LOVE LOVE it. Know what I mean?
Let me know what you thought of this week’s necklace? Love it? Hate it? Let me know in the comments as it definitely inspires me.
